I look up, "Yeah," I say in a small voice.

Nathan

"No your not." I say placing her on my lap and leaning back. "I can tell." Her eyes get tears in them. "I told you that you would never loose me and I am keeping that promise." I say kissing her.

"But, how can you tell? What if a bomb goes off and you explode? Or-r you get shot, or stabbed, or poisoned!" I say as I look him in the eyes.

Nathan

"I can't tell but I am going to safe and come home every time, I promise." I say looking her in the eyes. "I will never leave you and Scarlett." I say.

I feel a tear roll down my cheek, "But...but...wha...what if..." my mind races and I can't talk straight. I turn my attention back to Nate and bury my head in his neck.

Nathan

"Babe, please trust me I need your trust." I say holding her tightly and kissing her head.

I cry and attempt to talk, "I..tru..st...you..." I choke out.

Nathan

"Thank you, I love you Cody." I say looking her in the eyes.

"I..If you do ge...get the job, do..do we have to move?" I ask him. I rub my red eyes and wipe the stray tear off my chin.

Nathan

"You can stay here but you can come with Scarlett and live over-seas on base." I say.

"You...you're going over-seas?" I ask as I start to tear up again.

Nathan

"Don't cry." I say drying her tears. "You and Scarlett can come live on base." I say looking at her.

"B...but we've made our lives here, in the District. And we just moved into our own house, and we're engaged," I say as I twist to ring on my left finger worridly.

Nathan

"We can keep the house and travel over-seas when I get called." I say watching her twist the ring.

I look at him, "Scarlett's not gonna have her own room, and we'd have to bring her crib every time. I-I don't know what to do, Nathan," I say as I bury my face in my hands.

Nathan

"Please just let me handle it Cody, I love you and I am not going to loose you over this!" I say holding her face. "Just let me worry about this we don't even know if I am going to get the job." I say holding her.

"I know you are! You're in perfect shape, you're strong, there's no reason not to accept you!" I say as I hold his elbows.

Nathan

"You maybe right but I have a criminal past and I have a DUI so they might not expect me because of that." I say looking her in the eyes.

My lip quivers and I stare into his eyes, "What if they do?" I whisper.

Nathan

"Then I will handle the moving and I WILL come home to you and Scarlett every time." I say to her.

I close my eyes and whisper, "I don't want to loose you." I feel a few tears roll down my cheek.

[Gotta go to bed! Byeh!]

Nathan

"You won't loose me, I promise." I say kissing her head.

Nathan

We fall asleep on the couch and I wake up a little later. I go check on Scarlett who is sitting in her crib, I pick her up and snuggle her. "Dadda, you sad?" She says trying to speak clearly. "No pumpkin I am just tired." I say sitting on the rocking chair with her.

[I here! ]

I lay on the couch, half-way asleep. I hear Nate sit down in the rocking chair in Scarlett's room. I open my eyes and pick the hair off of my face. I wipe the dried tears off of my face and go to the bathroom to brush the morning taste out of my mouth.
